Verification Process
Property owners and rental agents share verification access with prospective tenants, allowing them to complete the screening process for each new rental application. Once a rental agreement is signed, the property owner or agent marks the contract as active in our system.
Data Visibility and Access
We maintain strict controls over who can access tenant information and when:
- Limited Visibility Period: Tenants appear in the property owner's or agent's system only during the active rental period plus 2 weeks after the lease ends
- No Public Access: Tenant ratings, history, and personal data are never publicly accessible
- Verified Access Only: Tenants cannot view other tenants' ratings or data without proper verification through a property owner or agent invitation
- Controlled Database: Our tenant review database is only accessible to verified property owners and rental agents for legitimate screening purposes
Property Owner and Agent Responsibilities
Data Protection Obligations
By using Tenrat, property owners and rental agents agree to:
- Never share tenant data with unauthorized third parties
- Maintain secure access to their Tenrat account credentials
- Use tenant information solely for legitimate rental screening and property management purposes
- Report any suspected data breaches immediately to our support team
Property owners and rental agents are legally responsible for any unauthorized disclosure of tenant data obtained through our platform.
Data Collection and Use
We collect and process personal information only as necessary to provide our tenant screening services:
- Identity Verification: Name, contact information, and government-issued ID for identity confirmation
- Financial Information: Income verification and credit-related data for risk assessment (if asked)
- Rental History: Previous landlord reviews and rental performance records
- Behavioral Data: Patterns and indicators used by our AI risk assessment system
Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect all personal information:
- End-to-end encryption for all data transmission
- Secure cloud storage with multiple backup systems

Important Note
